I'm Helen

“I believe we hold more potential than we can possibly imagine.  I also believe many of us have had experiences that have left us feeling the opposite.  We can learn to cope by closing up parts of our hearts for protection, staying small or rigid and we can find ourselves living lives that don't reflect our true, juicy, brilliance.  We have a choice, always, about how we respond to what we come up against in life.  We may not be conscious of it, but once we are, boy does the game shift gears.

I grew up in London and always wanted to tell stories that would change the world.  I was 4 years old, and my legs didn't reach much past the end of the seat when I saw my 1st play.  My parents sat me on the aisle in case I  wanted to leave, but as the curtain came down, they had to prise me off the chair in tears as I didn't want it to be over.  My relationship with endings has improved, but my love for art and the power of hearing our stories has amplified.  As I spent more and more time training in the arts I realised when we can see through another's eyes, we can open our minds and hearts a little wider, leading us to care a little more and create a more just and loving world.

My acting career has allowed me to play roles that have taken me across the world and to the depths of my soul.  My proudest moment was being the 1st woman to play Hamlet in the South East of Europe, staring in a prestigious venue famous for leading men in that role, including Danial Day-Lewis, I was fulfilled by having a platform to discover what it means to be human night after night, and my days being interviewed on TV for my opinion of 'women's roles', equality in the arts and the purpose of international collaborations as Brexit was announced.  However things have been on the outside; the inner hasn't always been glossy.

"I have been to hundreds of ceremonies over the last 30 years of running a retreat centre.  Helen's cacao ceremony in Ibiza really was one of the most beautiful and heartfelt ceremonies I have ever been a part of.  I had profound realizations, felt a deep connection to my family and that was because of her heart, her knowledge, her light and the beautiful and safe space she created!"

My Story...

I spent most of my life juggling far too many balls, burning the candle at both ends and was petrified of being still.  I didn't know who I was when I wasn't doing something.  This exhausting cycle sprung from a lack of self love and self trust, which was a result of childhood abuse I had blocked out.  I felt poor all the time, (no matter how much money was in my bank account), perpetually single and feeling like I was missing out on everything. Several major traumas in my life had not been dealt with and I was sitting on a foundation of anger and frustration.  I took a lot of medication for a seriously debilitating condition, when left untreated. I was holding it together, but I was far from happy or healthy.  I wont share all the details of my past online but am happy to bring them up when I hold space if they are relevant, but suffice to say some unbearable life circumstances lead me to exploring the spiritual path, and I began to realise there was a lot more to being alive than I was currently experiencing.

I didn't see it for a while, but I had started to turn my life around from it's very depths.  It hasn't been easy, and it definitely hasn't been boring.   I have travelled across rain forests, mountains, warehouses and the cosmos to find answers, but I have generally found more questions.  Learning to surrender to what is mystic and trust in my own foundation of courage, compassion and wisdom has been of immeasurable benefit. I've connected to an inner power that I was unaware I had, it has guided me to share the tools, lessons and magic I have collected since I first began to heal from the inside out.

It took me a few years of recommendations at other ceremonies until I managed to make it to my first cacao experience, as I was lying on the floor bathing a post elixir sound bath, I felt a very strong calling to serve this divine plant.  I cycled home through a park feeling like nature was behind me and the universe was guiding me on, mid pedal I realised that this medicine’s connection to me felt like completing the circle of healing from the depths of the anorexia  which I had been hospitalised with as a teenager; a restoration to my relationship with life and with love.  Cacao is ideal for allowing you to come home to your heart and tune into your inner wisdom, seeing your life with fresh eyes, and reconnecting you to the joy of yourself.  If your access to me time is limited, cacao will offer you all you are ready to receive, whilst allowing you integrate back into contemporary life with grace and ease.

Since I began this journey I have come off all the medication I was told I would need for life, having been diagnosed with narcolepsy in my teens, and feel healthy, free and empowered. I have naturally healed infertility and Amenorrhea.  I no longer over exercise, experience FOMO or an addictive personality.   My capacity for self love has skyrocketed and I now know how to keep fuelling it, no matter what happens.  I now have boundaries, buckets of enthusiasm and laugh a lot more, and I still have my massive aspirations, but the journey I want to take to get there looks very different. My capabilities as an actress have expanded as I no longer think I might break, but so has my life in so many directions.  I love creating art that opens people's hearts and minds, and I love creating ceremonies that offer the same thing.  And what I treasure most, is that I am enjoying the ride, (nearly all the time).

Working With Me:

I work with cacao as a way to allow people to quieten their minds and sink into their hearts; to connect to their authentic power, creativity and connection to All.  When we begin operating from our hearts, the shifts can be huge.

I create ceremonial circles for people to connect to their hearts and strengthen the unity of being human, release pain and limitations, and rediscover their inner passion, compassion, wisdom and clarity.

I combine the psychological insight and empathy gained through acting,12 years as a freelance communications coach and facilitator in the business world, intuitive insight and compassion developed along my life's eventful journey, with my study and practise of Buddhism and the universes healing gifts.  My packed personal tool kit allows me to bring something of value which suits the needs of each client, ceremony and collaboration.

I offer a space to guide and support you with tools, techniques and some universal magic to reconnect to your heart, and have the courage to put into action it's teachings.

"The one to one ceremonies changed my life. The gentleness was what I needed. I gained more in 3 sessions than I gained in 3 years of therapy! You got to the root of the issues and I have been able to find the connection I was pining for. Since the 3 sessions I have made significant changes in my personal and professional life resulting in a life that is more balanced. We search for purpose, for meaning, for love and what I learnt from the work we did together was that I have all the answers within me. I look forward to further one to one sessions as I build on my own personal sense of self and what I want out of life. Thank you Helen I believe your amazing work has given me the leaps I needed to learn to live again." - Sabi C. Psychotherapist 121 Client

FAQ'S:

  • Why is ceremonial grade cacao different to chocolate/cocoa/normal cacao?

Have a look at the science page here.

In a cacao bean, it is down to the age and quality of the beans, how they are produced, fermented and treated.  Once you process them, over heat them and add dairy you massively inhibit or destroy all the nutrition, delicate neuromodulaters, neurotransmitters, amino acids and compounds.

The bullet points are:

  • It allows up to 40% blood to travel around the brain, allowing for expansions of awareness and increased creativity; great for seeing situations in a new light, problem solving and overcoming creative blocks.

  • It heightens the senses allowing food to taste amazing and the body to feel juicy, fluid, sensual and vibrant.

  • It helps focus and concentration without the anxiety or crash of caffeine.

  • It opens up the energy around the heart allowing you to release stored grief and find the joy underneath, without getting attached to the story.

  • It is great for detoxing.

  • It tastes so good!

  • It is healthy: nothing added.  No sugar, gluten, dairy, mystical E numbers or ‘flavourings’. It is raw, unprocessed, ethically sourced and sustainably produced. It is vegan.

  • Is there anything cacao isn't good for?

Umm, great question...urm...I will have to get back to you about that.

  • Can I work with you without cacao?

Yes, absolutely.  My spiritual life coaching, tarot and courses are all run without cacao, you can combine it in if you wish.  If you want to join a cacao ceremony or retreat without cacao, message me about your concerns and I will talk you through alternative options.

  • Can I work with Cacao Everyday?

Yes, as long as you remain conscious with it and it doesn't become a habit, or you feel dependent on it.  There may be periods of time when you feel called to work with it everyday, this is when you are building a relationship with it, and how to work with it in your life. Once established, you may then find you only want it once a week or month.  Really you have the answer to this question, keep asking yourself your reason why, and you'll know whether it is too much or not.

  • Is cacao dangerous?

Yes, for parrots, dogs and horses it can be fatal.

If you are on very strong anti depressants you may want to work very gently with cacao as it can cause headaches with MAOI inhibitors.  I suggest smaller doses and drinking lots of water if you feel a headache coming on, the water will dilute and flush out the cacao.  Please contact me if you are concerned or consult a Dr.

  • Can I come with my mum/best friend/daughter?

Defo, when we come to ceremony with people with whom we have profound karmic bonds, the ripples of the individual healing is magnified and encompasses the relation energy as well.

  • So, do you work with just women?

No.  However, some of my work is centred around the female experience and the majority of my clients are women.  I sometimes offer womxn only retreats and ceremonies as there is an added level of connection and healing available in these circles.  Sometimes I focus on balancing the masculine and feminine energies internally, we all have these no matter our gender.  Where possible my work is fully inclusive, as most of my clients are women this is where I place my focus but I flex to who ever attends the events.   I have a men who regularly attend my weekly sessions and clients who are trans and nonbinary.

  • Is it true you have chanted every day since 2014?

Yep, I have, chanting allows me to connect to my unlimited compassion, courage, wisdom and life force.  Usually I chant twice a day actually!

  • Is it true you never fitted in?

Growing up, I thought I was the black sheep of the family, but when I started healing I realised I was the chanting/vegan/spiritual sheep.  Now I don't feel the need to fit in :).
